Over the past 12 months, we’ve been working to better understand some of the issues around staff shortages in automotive workshops. We completed a first piece of research looking at the experiences of apprentices in Australian workshops, and you can find the results of that study on the AAAA website.

It will be no surprise that one of the issues that emerged in that study is pay. People assume that being an automotive technician isn’t a well-paid role, but we know that this isn’t really the case (especially when you take into account bonuses, overtime, etc). To help the AAAA with its advocacy in this space, we’d now like to collect accurate data about technician pay rates in Australian workshops.

Fifth Quadrant is running this study as an independent 3rd party, so please be open and honest when answering the questions. If you are unsure about anything in the survey, you can contact Amelia on amcveigh@fifthquadrant.com.au
